Borough Departments
The major departments of the Borough of Shippensburg are Public Works, Wastewater, Water, Parks and Recreation, Police, Fire, and Tax Collector.
Below is a brief description of their main functions and responsibilities:
Public Works Department
Responsible for streets, Sanitation, Recycling, Maintenance, and traffic signals. The Department also conducts annual leaf, brush/yard waste, and Christmas tree pick-up.
Wastewater Department
Responsible for accepting, processing, and disposal of wastewater in accordance with Chesapeake Bay permitted discharge. The Department also operates a compost facility.
Water Department
Responsible for operating and maintaining the water system and providing drinking water for the surrounding area.
Parks & Recreation
Responsible for operation, maintenance and programs at Memorial and Dykeman parks.
Police Department
Responsible for the enforcement of Borough ordinances and the safety of Borough residents.
Fire Department
Responsible for providing fire fighting services for Shippensburg area residents.
EMS
Responsible for providing emergency medical service for the Shippensburg area.
Tax Collector
Responsible for collecting, receiving, and accounting for Borough taxes.
